This is a phase clock, helpful for a child's routine. It can be used as is best for the child: in our family we use 'dawn' as a time a child can get up quietly, stay in their room, perhaps read; 'day' as a time when they can come and wake me up! 'Dusk as a time when they can read quietly in bed, and 'night' for lights out. The clock seems to have a reassuring and anthropomorphic quality to it, it also acts as a night light.
The phases can be set for week days and weekends (where a weekend is considered to be from Friday night to Sunday night) and there is a holiday override which uses the weekend settings.
